My Everyday Carry Bag: Peak Design 6L Sling and Travel Backpack

In this week’s video, I wanted to give you a peek into what's in my everyday carry Peak Design 6L Sling Bag. This is my go-to bag for photowalks around the city. I love the 6L Sling as opposed to the 3L and the 10L Sling because I find it’s the perfect mix of being lightweight and small while still being able to carry the things I need and not feel like my gear is being cramped or squished.

Let's start with the main compartment of the bag. I have it seperated as such with the dividers Peak Design provides you.. In the main compartment, I have my camera with a prime lens, usually my 55 mm prime lens attached to it. This is my favorite lens for street photography, as I’ve explained in my 50 mm street photography blog. In the other section of my bag, I’ll have a lens that compliments the prime attached to my camera. If I have my 55 mm on my camera, I’d probably bring the 24 mm. If I have the 24 mm on my camera, I’d bring the 55 mm or the 85 mm. There are also times where I may just bring my camera and one prime attached to it.

With the Peak Design dividers, it can actually flex and separate into another section and make another small compartment. This is where I like to carry my everyday items such as my wallet, airpods, chapstick, etc.

In the upper zipper in the main compartment, I carry 2 camera batteries. You never know when you might need an extra battery, so I always make sure to have one with me.

In the “Ipad carry section” of the main compartment, I like to keep some of my tools for the Peak Design camera plate in case I want to take it off for some reason as well as a fiber cloth for whenever I need to clean my camera on the fly. Peak Design says you can fit your IPad in this pocket, but I find it’s too small to fit mine. Especially with the smart keyboard or pencil attached, which is what I’d need if I bring it to a coffee shop to work, so I find it’s not too useful honestly.

Last but not least, we have this outer pocket. I like to keep my external battery here. You never know when you’ll need to charge your phone. This becomes especially important when traveling to somewhere new. You definitely don’t want to be lost without any directions. Also for me, I can’t live without music so that makes my phone that much more important.

There are days though, where I might need to bring a bit more such as my tripod, filters, etc. For those days, I’ll opt for my Peak Design Travel Backpack. I love the Travel Backpack as it can double as a carry on for when I travel from country to country or city to city and for an Everyday Carry. The 45L Travel Backpack is a bit bulky for an everyday carry, but if you compress it down to the 30L size, it’s doable. It just looks a bit stand out-ish with how long it can be. However, the 30L travel backpack is perfect for an everyday carry, which I love using during my travels through Korea and Japan.

Overall, the Peak Design 6L Everyday Sling Bag is the perfect size for carrying my camera and essentials. It's compact and easy to carry around, but also has enough room to hold everything I need for a day out shooting. In relation to that, the Peak Design Travel Backpack is perfect for everyday carry when you need to hold a bit more. I never feel like I need any other bag besides the Sling or the Travel Backpack for the gear I own and use.
